Troubleshooting and managing a chat connection

Most people connect EDITED to their assistant in under a minute. When something goes wrong it's usually one of the things below. The first is quick and on your side — the EDITED region you connect to. The next few are about access your organization controls; the last is an occasional technical hiccup.

Setting up a Microsoft Copilot agent?

This page is for using a chat assistant. If you're setting EDITED up for your team, setup problems — the kind only an admin or EDITED can clear — live with the setup guide: Set up EDITED in Microsoft Copilot.

Make sure you're connecting to the right EDITED region

EDITED runs in two separate regions, and your assistant has to connect to the one your EDITED account is in. Point it at the other region and the connection won't work — typically the sign-in doesn't go through.

You already know which region you're in — it's the EDITED address you log in to. Use the matching address when you connect your assistant:

  • my.edited.com or ask.edited.com → connect to https://mcp.edited.com/mcp/v1
  • my-us.edited.com or ask-us.edited.com → connect to https://mcp-us.edited.com/mcp/v1

What to do: if you used the other region's address, remove the EDITED connection and add it again with the address that matches your login, then sign in. With Microsoft Copilot you don't enter an address yourself — the region is set when your team's agent is created, so check with whoever set it up.

Before you start: access and permissions

Most of the rest come down to access — either on EDITED's side or your own organization's. If connecting fails before you reach an EDITED sign-in, or the sign-in is refused, check these first:

  • Your EDITED account needs MCP access. Chat uses the same EDITED login as our other apps, with MCP access switched on. Not sure yours has it? Your account manager or support@edited.com can confirm and enable it. New to EDITED? Book a demo to get started.
  • Your administrator may need to approve it. Some EDITED accounts are set up so an administrator enables chat access for the team. If colleagues can connect and you can't, ask whoever manages your EDITED account.
  • Your assistant may block custom connectors. ChatGPT, Copilot and others let your own organization's admin control whether people can add custom connectors or MCP servers. If you can't find where to add one — or adding it is blocked — that's your organization's policy for that assistant, not EDITED; check with your IT administrator.

What to do: sort out which of these applies before retrying — a connection blocked by access won't succeed on a second attempt until the access is granted.

Microsoft Copilot: there's no EDITED agent to pick

You're in Microsoft 365 Copilot or Teams and want to use EDITED, but there's no EDITED agent to choose. Nothing is broken — Copilot works through an agent your organization sets up once, and yours doesn't have one yet (or it hasn't been published to you).

What to do: ask whoever runs your Copilot agents, or your admin, to set up and publish the EDITED agent. Point them at Set up EDITED in Microsoft Copilot — it's a one-time job. Once it's published and you've been given access, the EDITED agent appears alongside your others and you sign in to EDITED the first time you use it.

"Login pages unavailable" after you sign in

While connecting EDITED you sign in to your EDITED account, and then — instead of landing back in your assistant — see a page that reads "Login pages unavailable. Please contact an administrator."

Your sign-in itself worked. This most often means the connection didn't finish in its short window — if signing in took a while (a password reset, say, or approving a login on another device), it can run out of time before it completes. Nothing was created, so there's nothing to undo.

What to do: close that tab, go back to your assistant, and choose Connect (or Reconnect) for EDITED again. Because you're still signed in, it usually goes straight through in a few seconds — at most you'll sign in once more. For this case you don't need to contact an administrator.

If a second attempt, made right after signing in, lands on the same page, it may be something else — see Getting help.

Managing your connection

Not a problem, just housekeeping:

  • Disconnect EDITED — remove the EDITED connector (or app) in your assistant's settings, where you added it. That stops the connection straight away.
  • Switch or reconnect — remove it and add it again the same way; you'll sign in to EDITED once more.

Where these settings live varies by assistant. For Microsoft Copilot, the connection is managed by whoever set up your team's agent.

Getting help

Still stuck after trying the above? Email support@edited.com and tell us:
